Have you tried this Canadian cloth diaper brand yet? It is pretty a pretty unmistakable diaper, with it’s gathered leg ruffles and recognizable logo. I am relatively new to the AppleCheeks brand, and this is my first experience with their Inserts. AppleCheeks sent me their One Size Bamboo Bundle to review, which includes the AppleCheeks One Size cover (min is in the colour Mint To Be) and one 2 ply bamboo insert. The Bundle can be purchased seperately as well.

My AppleCheeks bundle came with a one size envelope cover and 2 ply bamboo insert
The AppleCheeks Bamboo Bundle and all it’s details
The One Size AppleCheeks cover is designed to fit from 6lbs to 35+ lbs and is their new birth-to-potty option. The cover has gentle ruffles at the legs to hold in messes and provide a perfect fit around your baby. The fit, when fully unsnapped, is trimmer than their size 2 covers, and will be a great solution for babies on the trimmer side and who may be between size 1 and 2 for a little bit.

Rise snaps adjust the height of the diaper from 6-35lbs
The cover is lined with fleece for a stay dry pocket option, and the insert can be laid on top for an all-in-two style. The rise is adjustable withe 3 x 3 snaps to fit small, medium and large. The center row of rise snaps prevents bulging.
A 2 ply, ultra-soft, 70% rayon from bamboo/30% organic cotton fleece insert is incredibly absorbent and generously sized (12″x15″) to allow for trifolding. Rayon from bamboo’s antimicrobial properties make it a healthy choice for your baby’s bottom.
How we Used it
We have been testing this diaper since December, so it has been thoroughly put through its paces. I use the bamboo insert in a trifold, and have the shell snapped on the second smallest rise setting. My littlest is about 18 pounds and wearing size 12-18 months clothing. He is no longer a very heavy wetter, as he is currently self weaning and not nursing as much. He does drink a water bottle and whole milk throughout the day, so he is still a moderate wetter.
This insert performs very well for us and its size allows us to still trifold it on our second rise setting. Since it is a 2 ply insert, by trifolding it I get 6 layers of the soft bamboo/cotton material. We use the insert inside the cover, and do not remove it for washing.
Performance and Issues
The insert has held up great absorption wise. Even through naps and car rides, I find that I do not need to boost it as long as it is trifolded. If I know that we will need it for more than 2 hours, I fold the front down a little bit to provide even thicker insert in the up front wetzone for my boy. There is still enough length to reach nearly to the back of the pocket for rear absorption. We have a very great wash routine, so there have been no stains on the insert.

you can bulk up the front by folding the bottom of the insert up before trifolding
AppleCheeks pockets have an interesting, almost weird, pocket opening placement. They actually open 3/4 of the way to the back of the diaper. This is so that the inserts agitate out on their own in the wash, and you do not need to unstuff them yourself. I was very skeptical about this claim, so I really tested it, and the now-dozens of times I have washed it, it agitated out each time. Very cool.
The placement of the opening does prove a problem for poop removal, however. Because I am a dunk and swish gal, I like to remove the insert prior to dunking in the toilet for obvious reasons. It absorbs too much toilet water and risks flooding my wetbag unless I wring it out. This is difficult to do without touching the poop that has happened right over the opening, so I have been using AppleCheeks Fleece Liners in the pocket to catch poops. I highly recommend the liners for dunk and swish families as it makes removing the insert after poops, much easier. For exclusively breastfed babies- you don’t need to rinse the poop and so this is a non issue.
The Final Verdict
I like to summarize all my plus and minus points for each review to give you a quick idea of how this diaper performed. And my final verdict is that this diaper bundle is a keeper! The Bamboo insert is so soft, folds great and holds a lot of liquid. The spacious pocket is easy to boost if you have a heavy wetter and the large opening makes stuffing a breeze. Even with my giant hands!
The placement of the opening does present a challenge for cleaning poops, but I easily overcame this with the use of the brand’s fleece liners. The convenience of not needing to un-stuff pee-only diapers was worth the troubleshooting for the poops. You could also lay the insert on top instead of stuffing as another solution.
Overall, I can confidently recommend this diaper to my readers. The fit is great on my little guy so I imagine it will be a good choice for other petite babies. The company has been a pleasure to work with and I haven’t had any quality issues with this diaper or insert. And, the colour is absolutely gorgeous! They offer tons of great colours and prints to enjoy with constant new releases which is great for a collector like myself.

i love my AppleCheeks diaper and would like to try the Bamboo inserts
We are new to cloth and have purchased an apple cheeks size one sharkside and love how it looks, how it fits and how dry it keeps the baby! TY
AC one-size was a much better fit in my skinny kid than size two. I’m really happy they made these!
Applecheeks diaper s sound amazing thanks for sharing
I love some of the microfibre insert but use the bamboo tri-folds to boost my Omaiki night time diapers… They are doing too good of a job there to move over to daytime.
This is the reason you should pick me.. bamboo is calling out to me!
I love that the Applecheeks OS can fit right from birth to potty training tho there sized system is amazing to it is easier on the wallet to onky have to buy onesize
I agree! Since my babies are pretty average/lean the one size fits us well from birth to potty. Although bigger babies may benefit from the two sized system.
We love all things apple cheeks and the OS are a great fit my baby has been in clothes since he was about 6 months and he fit his OS great still at 1y4m. ?
I love bamboo in diapers, so this would be great to try!
We love our ac OS and bamboo inserts!!
I love the OS fit and would love to add this color so we have 3 OS as they are the best fit right now.
I love apple cheeks I got rid of everything else to switch exclusively!
AC is by far the best cloth diaper brand I have tried! Love that they now have a one-size option as well ?
Thanks for your honest opinion on this diaper brand. I haven’t tried it, but I’ve heard good things about it so far
3ply work awesome for us in OS! And it’s super trim!! ? thanks for sharing! Ordered the new PR today! So excited!!
I absolutely love the fit of the OS Applecheeks! My love for applecheeks definitely began with size one/two, but OS is just so perfect for that in between stage. I’m actually using a combination of size 2 and OS atm.
Great review! ?
I love their bundles! The best thing about Applecheeks is that they make size 3 & 4! Our toddler is in size 2&3 right now (he has ASD so potty training isn’t on the radar, yet) but we have a new squish coming in July I can’t wait to buy all the Applecheeks for!
I just love applecheeks OS! ❤️
Love one sizes!!
Great review on the Applecheeks OS diaper. We are very excited to try it on our little man!
I have never tried Applecheecks. The ruffles are really cute & t like how the trifolded insert would dry faster than a regular 6 layer insert. I can see where the pocket opening placement would be an issue for some however.
This looks like a great diaper. I really like the non microfiber insert that is customizable by folding,
I was actually just looking at these diapers online because I need to increase my stash for my new baby as I will have 2 in cloth. So now that I have this information I will definitely consider itbin my shopping! Thanks for sharing your experience!
The leg ruffles are such a cute feature, and they are comfortable for babies, too! Great review!
I’ve not tried any applecheeks diapers before, maybe mostly because they were size 1 & size 2 diapers only and the thought of having to buy 2 different sizes wasn’t appealing. Now that they make a OS diaper, I’m a little intrigued to see what all the fuss is about with applecheeks, and even more so after reading this review.
Apple Cheeks are HANDS DOWN my favourite. And they’re bamboo liners are just fabulous. Bonus that they’re Canadian! Great review. Can’t recommend AC enough 🙂

This sounds like a good diaper, though I might have an issue with the rise placement too. Also, my LO is 16 mo.& is 98th percentile for height & weight. He is close to sizing out of some of his diapers that only go to 35 lbs., and we have a while to go before potty learning! If I had a ‘do over’ I would know to invest in some that tend to run larger with a higher rise.
This is next on my “try” list! I’ve heard so many good things about AC!
I have one Applecheeks diaper that came with a prefold! I love the ruffles and find that it helps prevent leaks. I did have to add an extra insert for absorbency as my little one got bigger. Love the fit too!
I would love to try an Applecheeks diaper and the purple rain color is so pretty!
I was so excited about applecheeks, but they have never seemed to work for my chunky guy. I have a one size Canada 150 that I’m going to keep trying though. The prints are just so cute that I desperately want them to work for us!
Since I get such a great snug fit on my skinny guy, I can see how the One Size might not work for chunky monkeys. Have you tried a Size 2 on him? I love their prints too. So cute!
I would really love to try one of these diapers!
We have one Applecheeks diaper right now & I found that the insert needed boosting with my last kiddo as she got older. Baby #3 is 11 days old …. so I’m thinking if the diaper fits him well enough the insert would be perfect. He is soaking through the newborn diapers I have, so I think I need to try something else. lol
We’re you using the 2 ply or 3 ply diaper?
