When The Green Nursery approached me about doing a cloth diaper review for them, I couldn’t resist requesting the Blueberry Simplex. This all-in-one diaper is One Size and has been on my radar for some time. A respected brand in the cloth diapering community, I have tried Blueberry in the past and love their Capri diaper covers. This Blueberry Simplex has certainly lived up to my expectations! Read my review to learn about this awesome cloth diaper, how it worked for us, and even enter to win your own thanks to TGN!

The Simplex all in one cloth diaper by Blueberry is a great fit on my petite 16 month old!
All about the Simplex
The Blueberry Simplex is a One Size cloth diaper that is designed to work from birth to potty. The 3 x 3 adjustable rise can be snapped down for Small and Medium settings, and left open for size Large.
As an All-in-one diaper, the Simplex comes in one piece. There is a soft Birdseye Cotton lining and it has an attached cotton insert for extra absorption. The insert is unique, because there is a layer of Stay Dry fleece sewn onto one side of it. You can choose to lay the insert on top and have the stay dry layer against your baby’s skin.

The Simplex is lined with soft birdseye cotton and has an attached cotton insert. The insert also has one layer of stay dry fleece.
This diaper has 10 thirsty layers of 100% organic cotton fabric in the wetzone. It is designed for Daytime cloth diapering, and will require boosters to last overnight. Blueberry has provided a pocket, opening at each end, to add as much absorption as necessary. You can also tuck the insert inside the pocket to allow the natural birdseye cotton against baby’s skin.
The outer layer of the diaper is water-resistant PUL. This keeps all the wetness in and therefore the diaper does not need a seperate cover.

The Simplex has rolled leg elastics to provide a snug but gentle fit around legs. Be sure no cotton is visible when the diaper is on.
How we used it
This diaper gets regular use in my current rotation. We use it during the day, even for naps, as well as outings. My skinny 16 month old wears this on the smallest rise and he is 18 lbs. He CAN fit the medium rise setting, but I find just a slightly better fit on the smallest. He is quite skinny afterall.
We had no issues with absorbency during the day. He is no longer a super-soaker, but is still a moderately-heavy wetter. He nurses occasionally, drinks milk from a cup with each meal, and has a water bottle easily accessible all day long- so he still pees a lot. I found this diaper to contain all poops very well, even through a bout of teething diarrhea, which impressed me. The poop comes off the stay dryer layer easily, but does stick to the cotton. A sprayer or fleece liners do the trick though.

Here is a shot of the attached insert laying on top, giving the stay dry effect.
During car rides and naps, I laid the attached insert on top of the diaper to get the benefits of the stay dry effect. We had no issues or leaks. Even while babywearing, we had no compression leaks.
What I love
- The fabric is soft and very absorbent
- The prints and colours available are just stunning, especially this print “Sedona”
- The company is a well known brand with a good performance record
- Resale value is high for this diaper if kept in good condition
- The materials are high quality and the snaps feel sturdy
- Two rows of waist snaps are fastened at a slight angle, giving a tighter waist and wider hips giving a perfect fit for us every time!
What I love less
- I’m wary of the rolled leg elastics, by nature, but I have zero evidence to suggest these don’t work, and we had no issues. Just always check that no cotton is showing.
- These diapers are a bit pricey at $30.95USD, but most AIO’s are, especially with natural fibres. The solid colours are $2 less than the prints.

The final verdict
I have no problem recommending the Blueberry Simplex AIO to all my readers. This is a high quality diaper, backed with a great reputation. You could quite happily have an entire stash of these diapers, with extra inserts to boost for overnights.
Be sure to give this one a try, as it’s a clear winner in my books!
