Using a carrier in a wheelchair can be tough. You need to find one that’s comfortable for both you and your child, and doesn’t hinder your movements. I received this carrier from Fidella to review and, let me tell you, this fits the bill! It’s a toddler sized (they sell a baby size as well) and it’s a meh-dai style carrier, which has long straps that wrap around you to tie your little one securely and give greater support to your back than regular straps. Here’s my full review with all the information you need.
Not a wheelchair user? No problem! My husband has included his perspective of the carrier as an able-bodied user!
Wrap style strength and beauty, with ease of use
The wonderful thing about Fidella carriers is that they use woven wrap material to create all their different models. Perhaps you’ve seen the long woven wraps in a Babywearing group and thought “they look pretty, but so complicated!” That’s not the case here. You get the beautiful look of a woven wrap, with the ease of use that meh-dai carrier provides.
A meh-dai carrier is a millenia-old Asian design that consist of a panel of fabric with long straps protruding on four corners to tie around the caregiver’s waist and shoulders. There are many ways to fasten it, and several positions you can use.
This particular meh-dai toddler carrier has long wrap straps on the shoulders, an adjustable panel (to change width and height based on child’s size), and a padded and click-tight waistband. The wrap style shoulder straps can widely cover your whole shoulder and spread out for ultimate comfort and support.
The difference in support between standard meh-dai straps and these wrap style straps is undeniable! You can carry even a heavy toddler for much longer because your back and shoulders are not taking the weight of your child so directly. Following the instructions on this video to tie the straps will increase comfort and support even further. (Credit: Wrap you In Love).

Like thinner shoulder straps? My husband does. The Fly Click has you covered! Prefer spread out wrap straps like me? You get both! And it’s padded either way, too, so your shoulders have all the support they need.
Just like it’s predecessor the Fly Tai, the Fly Click also has an adjustable panel to get a custom width and height for your child. There’s a padded waist area and a long, adjustable, click buckle waist.
An able-bodied perspective
My husband is able-bodied and also likes to carry our boys. We have two children currently in Babywearing age, a 2.5 year old and 4.5 year old. I find it difficult to carry the 4.5 year old in my wheelchair, so when I have him he just sits on my lap. But even though he’s a “big kid” (his words) he still gets tired during long outings like the mall, or say at the aquarium on our recent trip to California.
Since they were born, my husband has been actively wearing our children. He prefers to wear on his back, and both our boys fit into this Fly Click Plus. Even the 39″ four year old gets knee to knee coverage and a nice deep seat inside the Fly Click Plus panel. And because it’s fully adjustable, our smaller boy gets just the right fit too- with only a 30 second adjustment to the little ties. For this photo op, my littlest got jealous so daddy held him too. I should have grabbed the other Fidella carrier and showed a tandem carry, because it would work great!

For toddler wearing, the Fidella Fly Click Plus is a winner for sure!
Where to Buy
You can purchase the Fly Click carrier (in baby or toddler sized) directly from Fidella.org with tracked and affordable international shipping. My particular print is called Kaleidoscope Sand and sells for $143 USD on their site. They have several sales and giveaw throughout the year and it’s worth signing up for their mailing list.
There are limited retailers in North America, so consider asking your favourite shop if they’d consider becoming a retailer!
Lil Monkey Cheeks, an Ontario company, doesn’t have the Fly Click model, but does have the Fly Tai as seen in my other review. At the time of writing, it’s even on sale!
