Cloth diapering requires a few great accessories to be successful. It’s extra exciting when one of those accessories proves itself useful in other areas, too! Wet bags are an integral part of every cloth diaper stash and I also use them in other areas around the house. Read about a few different brands, their features, which ones I prefer, and how to use wetbags for cloth diaper storage and more! And since my friends over at Calgary Cloth Diaper Depot have also sponsored a giveaway for you, really- Cloth diaper storage has never been more exciting!

Travel Wet Bags- For Cloth Diapering on the Go

From left: Funky Fluff Dual Pocket wet bag, Thirsties Wet bag, Applecheeks Size 1 storage sac, GroVia wet bag, Applecheeks Minizip
These travel size wet bags are all from my personal collection and I’ve been using them in my own cloth diapering journey. All of them are perfect for day trips and hold 4-8 diaper changes, depending on your diapering system. Wet bags are “waterproof” (or at least resistant) and they are made of the same laminated material as cloth diaper covers. Most brands sell their own wetbags to accompany their diapers.
Brands in my collection
Click each brand to expand the text and learn more about what features each of these wet bags have to offer.

My favourite travel wet bag is the Funky Fluff Dual Pocket. It has a few features that stand out including a snap-strap to attach it to a stroller, or hang on a doorknob. It also has two zippered pockets instead of one! I use one for clean diapers and wipes and the other for dirty ones. This means it sometimes replaces my diaper bag entirely! It retails for around C$17 and you can buy them at Calgary Cloth Diaper Depot.

The Thirsties wet bag is a single pocket bag with a snap-strap. It’s made in the USA in true Thirsties fashion and comes in all their popular prints and colours. The materials are sturdy and the strap itself is of a strong vinyl. It retails for around $20 and you can pick them up at Lagoon Baby.

The AppleCheeks size 1 storage sac is perfect for an outing with cloth diapers. It does not come with a snap on the strap, just a loop handle. There is a single zipper and it is available in all the adorable AppleCheeks prints and solids. The smaller size, called MiniZip, is perfect for cloth wipes or for cloth pads. They sell for around C$15 and C$9 respectively and are always in stock over at Calgary Cloth Diaper Depot.

The GroVia wetbag is a slightly different shape from the others, shorter and wider. I love the feel of the material. GroVia is well known for its high-end quality, and their wetbags are no exception. The strap has my favourite little snap style and the single pocket opening has a very sturdy zipper. I can fit 4-6 diapers inside. They sell for around $16 each.
Large scale dirty diaper Storage
In addition to my numerous wet bags, I use one AppleCheeks Size 2 drawstring storage sac. I bought it 3 years ago with my very first cloth diaper order. This brilliant sac has been through everything with me. Both home and away, this large wet bag holds all my dirty diaper laundry. I’ve even used it to transport regular laundry when all my baskets were full.
I’ve lined pails with it, hung it from doorknobs, attached it to the backseat head rest in my car for a 16 hour road trip, and hooked it onto the side on my playpen inside our tent. The sheer versatility of this Drawstring sac is why it is my bag of choice for large scale storage. It has stood up to literal daily use for 3 straight years and is still perfect. The best part? You absolutely cannot smell any of the soiled diapers when they’re inside this sac. Not in my super stuffy, hot, tent on August long weekend; and not in the confined quarters of my Saturn Coupe on our road trip detour from hell earlier this summer.
Every day my dirty diapers go in this size 2 sac, and twice a week I carry it down to my laundry room to wash it and the diapers. I don’t even have to touch them, I just hold the opening in front of the washer and push the contents into the drum, leaving the sac inside out and ready to wash along with the whole load. Once the load is dry, I stuff them back in the (now clean) sac and upstairs we go.
It retails for around $24 and the AppleCheeks Size 2 storage sac is the one you can win in our giveaway.
Alternative uses for wet bags
Most often these are found in my diaper bag, but they have other uses as well. The GroVia bag finds itself hanging in my bathroom once a month for my cloth menstrual pads, and I also use the minizip for my cloth pads when I’m on the go. My Thirsties bag is in my kitchen right now for cloth rags and towels. The size 1 ApplCheeks Sac fits an EZPZ mini mat perfectly for travelling to and form restaurants.
You can use wet bags for Swim gear as well. My children love the Shark Side AppleCheeks size 1 sac for carrying their wet swimsuits home from the pool. We’ve also carried library books in them, given them as baby shower gifts (perfect for non cloth diaper families too!) and I even used one as my husband’s lunch bag once, in a pinch. It was clean, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll think of dozens more uses for these bags as well.

Cloth Diaper Wetbags come in many sizes and brands and you can use them for more than just dirty diaper Storage! Read all about them and enter to win one!

This is my comment for the givaway raffle drawing. ~Michael
What size do you recommend using for transporting/storing pump parts at work? I keep them in the fridge and wash them when I get home. I hate using plastic bags.
A size 1 Applecheeks would work great! So would a GroVia Wet bag or a Funky Fluff Clutch (the clutch isn’t shown in this article but it’s a great option). Code Summer15 will get you 15% off with free shipping in usa/can on Applecheeks and Funky Fluff over at Calgary Cloth Diaper Depot until Sept 4th. My affiliate link is in the article if you would like to use it.
Thanks!!
Good to know the AC sz.1 will hold a EZPZ mini mat. I will have to figure out what would hold a regular size mat.
